Play the Color Game

Getting kids involved in meal planning is the best way to encourage immune-boosting eating from an early age. Let kids choose ingredients from the store or farmers market. Let them try something new every week.

PLAY THE COLOR GAME

Mother Nature is the Picasso of Fruits and Veggies. Allow your kids to select two fruits or vegetables of a bright color to create a meal or snack.Think the color of the rainbow...green, red, blue, white, yellow and orange.

Restaurant Portion Control

Here are some restaurant tips from Fit American Families

In a sit-down restaurant, plan on eating half of the food on your plate. To keep yourself honest, you might even get a doggie bag before you start eating and pack up half your meal as soon as it is served.

Tell the waitstaff not to put down a bread basket.

Order from the appetizer section.

Split an entree.

Don't eat a buffet.

If you order an appetizer do not order a dessert.
