Responsibility

Kids need to learn that acting responsibly might involve doing something  difficult--like studying for a test or giving up social plans in favor of  helping the family. Responsibility can also take moral strength--such as saying  no to drugs. Here are some ways parents can teach their children to act  responsibly and do the right thing.

Every Tuesday in my house my children took responsibility in deciding the menu writing out the shopping list and preparing the meal. I started teaching my children this at the age of 12. it worked out well for the most part...we had a lot of Taco Tuesdays, but eventually some Tuesdays became Taco Salad then Fish Taco. So like everything else in life when you teach responsibility and stick to it, good things will happen!

Share Cooking Duties. Try making a schedule of who cooks when in your household and see if you can alternate nights for cooking. If your schedules are too hectic, try having one person cook a large batch of ingredients on Saturday and another person cooking separate ingredients on Sunday -- this way you're left with a nice supply of healthy ingredients for the week ahead to pair together in meals and snacks.
